About Mriganka De

Mr Mriganka De is a Consultant ENT, Head & Neck and Robotic Surgeon with over 17 years of consultant experience. He practises at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) and the Priory Hospital, Birmingham.

University Hospitals Birmingham is the largest NHS Trust in the United Kingdom, and Mr De leads the ENT Head & Neck and Thyroid Service within one of the country’s largest and busiest ENT departments. He provides personalised, evidence-based care for patients with both general ENT conditions and complex head and neck disorders, including benign and malignant disease.

Mr De has established one of the largest minimally invasive head and neck surgical practices in the UK, with expertise in Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) and transoral laser microsurgery, offering these advanced techniques to both NHS and private patients. His specialist interests include head and neck cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, salivary gland disorders, voice disorders, swallowing disorders, and minimally invasive robotic surgery.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr De has an extensive leadership portfolio. He serves as Associate Medical Director for Corporate Governance at University Hospitals Birmingham, where he leads several Trust-wide quality improvement, patient safety and governance programmes. Through collaboration, innovation and strategic leadership, he has successfully delivered several complex multidisciplinary projects across one of the UK’s largest NHS organisations.

More recently, Mr De was appointed Deputy Medical Director for Clinical Delivery Group 9B at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) following a highly competitive interview process. This prestigious leadership role forms part of the executive clinical leadership team responsible for delivering high-quality patient care across the hospital.

Mr De has also been elected President of the Head & Neck Subgroup of ENT UK, the national professional body representing ENT and Head & Neck Surgeons across the United Kingdom. In this role, he provides national leadership in advancing education, research and clinical standards in head and neck surgery.

Mr De has an active national and international academic profile, making significant contributions to research, education and innovation in head and neck surgery.
